Music

I’ve been writing music as long as I can remember, and it’s always been an important part of my life. My tastes are very diverse, and so what I produce very rarely sounds like the last thing I did. Below, you will find a few mp3s that I have recorded. Please feel free to listen, download, and share.

Solo Work

I try to categorize my music by genre to an extent. In general, stuff recorded solo is going to be a bit softer, while the Rock songs will be performed with Certain Victory. Now, I only have one solo album for download right now, and it's a Rock album. So much for categories.

Excelsior

The "hard album." I mainly wanted to do a collection that rocked, so the uniting rule for this album was that every song had to have a distorted guitar. The whole album is available for free download.

Certain Victory

A band I used to play guitar for, and one I hope to reform one day. These songs are written by me, and I play the guitar and keyboard parts.

Three Hills

This song tells the story of a young woman who lived in Three Hills, Alberta, who wouldn't give up on me, even in my darkest days. We stopped talking right before things turned for me, leading to my conversation to Christianity. I've never forgotten the impact she has had on my life.

I Want You

A fun blues rocker that tries (unsuccessfully) to explain how much God means in my life. The Psalmist said it a lot better than I did: "As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God" (Psalm 42:1).

Somerset

A call to serve, a beckoning to God's work. That's what this song is. A lot of people have asked me where Somerset is. Doesn't matter. That's why I picked such a popular name for a town. When God calls, we follow. That's all that matters.

The TechnoFunkBoy

I have been terribly influenced by MIDI game music, so I became involved in the TechnoFunkBoy project as an homage to the great music I grew up listening to from my Nintendo and Super NES. We don't completely restrict ourselves to MIDI, but all of our music has that foundation.

Final Fantasy: The TechnoFunkBoy Mixes

Our tribute to Nobuo Uematsu, where we take some great tunes from the Final Fantasy video game series and rework them as techno/dance songs. The whole album is available for free download.
